CYNDI LAUPER’S NEW REALITY SERIES ON WE TV PROVIDES A VOICE FOR GAY AND TRANSGENDER HOMELESS YOUTH
True Colors Fund and Give a Damn Campaign co-founder Cyndi Lauper has a new reality series that focuses on the “struggle of the juggle” of being a rock star, mother, wife, Broadway composer, New York Times best-selling author, and philanthropist.
Cyndi Lauper: Still So Unusual will feature the journey Cyndi and her True Colors Fund took last summer to launch our sister program, the Forty to None Project. The Forty to None Project is the first national organization to solely address the issue of gay, lesbian, bisexual and transgender youth homelessness.
Episodes will show Cyndi and the True Colors Fund team traveling to Washington DC to advocate on behalf of gay and transgender homeless youth, filming our very first public service announcement for the Forty to None Project, and launching the project during the New York City Pride March.
The following is a sneak peek of the episode featuring the creation of our first PSA – “America’s Next Generation”:
“This show is all about what Cyndi’s daily life is like and it would not be a true representation of that life if it didn’t include her unwavering commitment to helping gay and transgender homeless youth,” says Gregory Lewis, executive director of the True Colors Fund. “We truly appreciate WE tv’s commitment to helping give these young people a voice. The Forty to None Project has already accomplished so much in such a short period of time and we look forward to being able to raise awareness about this important issue on Cyndi Lauper: Still So Unusual.”
Cyndi Lauper: Still So Unusual debuts tomorrow night, Saturday, January 12th at 9pm EST with back-to-back episodes on WE tv. Additional back-to-back episodes will air each Saturday night at the same time. To learn more about the series, please visit the WE tv website.
